Hammer, decent vid. Good sync for the most part. I would've like to have seen some more effects, but now that you have Vegas, I'll hopefully get to see that in the future Rooskie, sorry, but I wasn't really a fan of the vid. The sped up clips thing didn't really work for me, and I didn't notice much sync. Good effort though, and kudos for picking an interesting topic (I always mark out for "different" MV subjects). BurningHammer - This video was alright. The sync was alright, but it could have been a lot better. Next time you should try to hit every beat instead of every third beat or whatever, it makes things look infinitely better. I don't really have much else to say about it.
Rooskie - Fun video. It's nice to look back at all the cheesiness of wrestling in the mid-nineties from time to time, though I would never want those days to return. I could find a lot technical aspects to complain about in this video, but I got the feeling it wasn't really about any of that stuff. It was just good for a laugh.
Winner: BurningHammer It was a close match though.

BurningHammer- I didn't really feel the song, granted it is a great song. While you had some sync for the most part, there were some BIG ones that you missed. It also didn't really feel like there was much of a build. However, If I hadn't seen Kobashi before, I would be inticed to look into some of his stuff.
Rooskie- I thought it was quite fun. I could feel the build through the moves, and I think for a rare occurance I liked the skipping between matches. However, I didn't really feel that there was a climax of the MV. It just built and then nothing really.
Winner: Rooskie
Also I loved the Strong/Danielson vid that got put up by mistake.

BurningHammer -- I'm with ckdog on the critique, although I will add one more thing about the song. I've seen that used in A LOT of videos. It's a great song, but so many people use it that it takes away the effectiveness of it when you see it used so often. Some of the sync was also off, most notably around 2:20 when you did the white cut ins, you were too quick with them. It was the same both times you went with the 'dumdumdumdumdumdumdum' beat. You were just too quick with it. Also, if you're going to go from black and white to color, punch up the color a bit so that it stands out. On the big lariat to Kawada at 2:04, it changed to color but since the source video's color wasn't all that great, it didn't make the kind of impact it should have.
Rooskie -- Like Beej said, I dug the different kind of content you chose, and am actually a big fan of that period in wrestling, but the video wasn't really doing it for me. The fast motion really killed me, and it never allowed me to settle in and enjoy the video. I like the song, too, and I think it could work quite well for a video, but it didn't work out all that well the way you used it. I didn't enjoy the effect you had throughout as well either. That plus the fast motion wasn't pleasing to the eyes.
Overall, neither were bad videos, but neither were more than just good. The concepts for both were there, but not executed as well as they could have been, and that hurt. I enjoyed Burning Hammer's more, though, so he gets my vote.
I did like the Dragon/Strong video a lot, which I had never seen before. That one would have won between these two. Now I gotta see how I feel. I'm confused, though. I guess that video was made by JROC, and it says it was for this competition, but in the other thread there's a different video for him. Somebody fill me in, please.

I did watch the right video by the way. Rooskie: I couldn't get into it. It was goofy, and some prefer goofy but I like the more serious ones, so I'm a bit biased already. I didn't see a lot of syncing (although I loved the lyric sync for video Shawn Michaels and lyrics boytoy reaching his peak) and it got a bit old halfway through.
BurningHammer: Also second that I have heard this song in A LOT of videos and even one about Kobashi, so it didn't feel all that special to me. Plus, the video was there...some good syncing and sometimes some missed opportunities. The end was also felt deflated to me, like no climax.
Winner: Burninghammer
I did watch the right videos by the way. Although I have to mention the Dragon/Strong vid was excellent. But its not up for voting. Oh well.

Someone want to explain to me what's going on here with that Dragon/Strong video?
No votes until this is cleared up.

rooskie: It's funny, normally I am the first person to say that fast motion ruins a video for me like nothing else, but something happened when you set the entire video in it that it made it no longer feel out of place. I'm not saying I greatly enjoyed it, but it was tolerable. I have no love for the WWE in this time period, so I can't award you any nostalgia points. And without any variety in editing, the video (ironically) felt a little too long. It was a nice effect, except on the few clips where the Chroma was a bit too obvious.
BurningHammer: I guess my first issue is with sync. It was never that great, but passable most of the time, with a few instances where it really stood out that you could have done more. I liked the transitions, as you definitely don't see them in a lot of videos. It was a good look at Kobashi, but you could have done more with it, adding more non-action, emotion shots, to help maybe justify your song choice. Check out Robbie's Misawa video and all that. Still, not that much particularly wrong here.
BurningHammer takes a fairly easy decision. Good effort from both and hopefully you two continue to improve.

It's fixed now, and voting may resume. I'd like to know how that happened, though. Yeah I sent that Dragon/Strong vid to Ryan a bit over a week ago so he could have a look at it. I ended up using the other vid for this comp and I guess he got mixed up and put the DS one on the server for rooskie. I'm kicking myself now for not using that one...rushed = my downfall. Sorry bout the confusion though, just thought I'd clear it up.

Rooskie: I'm going to just be honest, didn't really like it. The high speed clips just killed it for me. I know it was suppose to be jokey, and I really just don't like that with comp vids anyway. I really do hate to be mean with reviews but when I don't like it I don't like it.
Burning Hammer: I've pretty much already reviewed this for you and I'd say everyone pretty much said exactly what I said. It was an ok vid, the syncing could of been better, song a bit overused and used to the fullest. You told me this was your 100th vid, and I really have to say quality over quantity. I've head you switching to Vegas, so that almost forces you to improve.
Winner: Burning Hammer

Rooskie: Quite an odd video. Odd music, odd topic choice and a very odd use of effects. While I appreciate what you were trying to accomplish as something that feels unique and outstanding, I'm not sure if it's totally understandable in execution. The effects were very distracting and highly unprofessional, the music, while it partly fitted the subject matter, you didn't really do anything with it, and overcranking everything just made it all the more awkward. Everything else is moot, syncing was good but I can't say it's easy to appreciate what with the colour key effect. I mean I enjoyed it... I think.
BurningHammer: It's very ambitious to take on a topic like Kobashi's career. Such an epic subject could very easily fail by expectations alone, but I think you managed well, what you had here was a good idea with some iffy application. I'm not gonna dwell too much on the syncing because I don't think that was the point of the video, but it could be improved upon. There was some very nice, almost juxtaposed shots of young Kobashi and old Kobashi and that was really quite touching. The music bothered me a little because it's borderline cliché but was fairly relevant to the subject, in-terms of setting a solid mood for the clips. Keep up the good work.
My Choice: BurningHammer
